In what is becoming a regular feature on the calendar, the Colchester Gladiators took over the facilities at Felsted for our second annual residential training camp last weekend. This is an excellent opportunity for the team to both bond and to train together over an extended period of time, this year was no exception with both the Senior and Junior team in attendance.
With a cold and wet start to the weekend on Saturday, the players strapped on their kit and got out on the well kept pitches to start getting better, and I think it is reasonable to suggest that over the next couple of days, not one player won’t have improved. As was the case last year, the food went down well and punctuated the practical and classroom sessions regularly, culminating in an evening of football related entertainment in the auditorium on Saturday and the much enjoyed Rookie Talent show on Sunday.
I am sure that I am not the only one who is already looking forward to the camp next year, and I encourage any future rookies to make it a priority as its an invaluable learning opportunity.
Hopefully, this extended preparation and bonding will have stood us in good stead to perform well in our first game of the season, away, against the much fancied Solent Thrashers on the 26th of April.
I think all that is left to say is a big thanks to the guys who made it happen and came and coached us too!
